Former SPDP 5 Too Overzealous That They Overlooked Facts, Says Balang
SPDP secretary general Nelson Balang Rining yesterday said he was disappointed with the five office bearers who had been sacked from the party for allegedly trying to confuse the public.
Referring to Ba Kelalan constituency, the former Ba Kelalan assemblyman said the five were too overzealous with their eagerness to demonise party president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom to the extent that they had forgotten the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate who defended the constituency in the last state election.
“It was not me who contested then but another party member Willie Liau. I retained the seat for BN twice before Willie took over last minute during last April 16 state polls,” he said in jest.
‘Grab Opportunities, Don’t Be Mere Passengers’
LAWAS: Rural people should grab the many opportunities made available through development projects carried out by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in its transformation programme.
They should not be mere passengers and watch others prosper, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu.
“The people should not be mere passengers in the politics of development but grab the opportunities made available, particularly for the rural communities who still need much assistance from the government,” he said at the meet-the-people session at Kampung Punang here.
The Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Minister of Rural Development also said it was important that they uphold the culture of appreciation by reciprocating the government’s efforts in bringing development to them through their votes.
Six Northern Region SPDP Divisions Propose Tiong As Deputy President
Six Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) divisions in the northern region yesterday proposed that treasurer-general Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing become its next deputy president to succeed Datuk Peter Nyarok Entrie.
In other words, Tiong, the Bintulu MP, would be made the second man at the party’s March 18 triennial general assembly (TGA) in Bintulu, said deputy secretary general Paul Igai upon his arrival here from Miri.
Igai, who is political secretary to the chief minister, said the divisions also proposed that Nyarok be elevated to honorary life president.
Jangan Jadikan Hotel Tempat Judi, Maksiat
