‘SPDP No Locus Standi To Discuss Our BN Fate’

Group of Five (G5) former SPDP leaders rubbished SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan’s recent statement, saying his party had no locus standi to discuss their fate in BN as they were no longer members of the party.

Former secretary general and spokesman of the group, Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran said it was Mawan who should be doing the homework before opening his mouth and accusing him of being illogical in issuing statements concerning the party and his status.

“ They do not have the locus standi to discuss our fate in BN as we are no longer in SPDP, and furthermore it is the prerogative of the chief minister and harping on that issue could mean that they are against BN as we are elected BN representatives,” he said.

Telling SPDP and Mawan, as a responsible component party, to stop harping on the status of the group, he said: “ Why stop us from having a platform to serve our constituents?.

Entri, who is also Assistant Minister of Public Utilities and Assistant Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture (Farmers Organisation), said their group had nothing to do with negative politicking on the ground as practiced by SPDP in Marudi and Mas Gading.

He said Mawan’s accusation of the group’s involvement in negative politicking would boomerang on them.

Recently, SPDP divisions in Muara Tuang, Meradong, Piasau and Pelagus public announced that they had issued such a resolution in their respective triennial general meeting.

Entri in his earlier statement questioned their motive.

“Why is SPDP so adamant on questioning our positions in the government and GLC, would it mean that they also want the positions in the government by positioning themselves in SPDP and undermining us?” he questioned.

He said this in his speech at the launch of Saberkas Nabor Unit under Marudi Branch and Sungai Entulang Road at Rumah Justine Manai, Sg Entulang, Bakong over the weekend.

‘Our positions in the government are for us to serve the constituents and the people of Sarawak
as well but not because of self-interests as alleged by SPDP,” he said.

Entri pointed to negative politicking by SPDP against Barisan Nasional elected representatives in his constituency when the president went to Rh Henry Gomes, Kpg Mission, Ulu Teru and created factions and disunity among the BN supporters who were his staunch supporters in the last state election.

Entri said there was a hidden agenda in the visit to Rh Henry Gomes , including introducing Alexander Asing as the candidate to take over from him in the next State Election, and also in a closed door discussion that SPDP would drop all the appointments of community leaders and councillors in Marudi constituency.

He pointed to derogatory words against him as BN elected representative, when they visited Rh Benang, Sg Bakas which was an opposition stronghold in the last state election.

Entri also questioned the development in Mas Gading where SPDP led by its president organised at least two functions in Bau with the intention to discredit the incumbent
Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe as well as disuniting the Barisan Nasional supporters in Mas Gading constituency.
